What do i do if i cant get a job? been looking for 2 years already and nothing!?

I have fraud in my record from when I was 18 and I'm going to be 26 yrs old next month. Its been yrs since that happened, and payed off in full. So is that what is holding me back? Should I apply for a job first and then call them up and tell them about my criminal history and say its been like 8 yrs and things have changed? That I am a good person now and made a lot of mistakes when I was younger? Pls I need help. I am only looking for general labor work in warehouses and places like that...
